BOONDOCK VAN COMPANY

Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Boondock Van Company prides itself on building custom-crafted vehicles equipped for “boondocking” or off-the-grid living. Built to withstand the elements and drive over all kinds of terrain, Boondock Van Company gives people the perfect vehicle to pursue adventures in.

In an effort to elevate Boondock Van Company’s brand presence, Rally Department was tasked with designing a robust marketing toolkit that authentically represented the boondocking lifestyle that the company tailors its vans to. This toolkit aimed to capture the spirit of adventure and freedom that defines the boondocking community.

THE CHALLENGE

Inspired by national park signage and posters, Rally Dept. designed the Boondock Van Company logo kit to capture the spirit of the adventure lifestyle. The primary logo features a badge in the shape of an arrowhead, showcasing an adventure van driving past the iconic Golden Arch at Arches National Park. The adventure van, complete with a side ladder, features the BVC logo on top, symbolizing stowed luggage. The “B” monogram incorporates a compass needle, symbolizing the endless journey from one adventure to the next.

The flat vector style, with its simple, rounded shapes, creates a quirky and approachable aesthetic that resonates with outdoor enthusiasts. The typography draws inspiration from the timeless design of classic National Park Service posters, evoking a sense of nostalgia and adventure. An earthy, outdoorsy color palette ties the design back to the brand’s adventurous clientele and natural inspirations.
